About This Chapter
Cell: The Building Block of Life
Chapter 2 of the new NCERT Class 9 Science textbook Exploration introduces students to the cell—the basic structural and functional unit of life. It helps learners understand why cells are essential for living organisms and how the organization of cells supports different life processes.
Students are introduced to the structure and organization of cells and learn how different cell components contribute to the functioning of a living organism. The chapter also encourages students to observe, compare and reason about cellular structures rather than simply memorising terms.
